Embers and Aspirations Retreat: Bonfire & Invasive Species Removal

Event
students gathered around a bonfire

🔥 Join Open Circle for our fall bonfire retreat! đź”Ą

Bringing presence to find light in the dark

Gather around the fire to reflect on the experiences that have shaped us and share hopes and aspirations for the 2nd half of term. Reflect on the symbol of fire in our lives, how it’s power can be both destructive and regenerative.

Before the bonfire begins, we’ll have guided icebreaker activities and will collaborate with Nature@Mac to remove invasive species* on campus, while reflecting on creating hope. Immerse yourself in this supportive community while taking a space away from the distractions of technology. Experience guided meditation, mindful movement, eating smores, and singing around the fire (or simply listening).

Take this opportunity to reflect in nature, restore your energy, and give back to the environment!

Cost:

  • potluck item
  • Optional: contribution to support Open Circle through the “Celebrating 25 Years of Connection” Crowdfunding Campaign

Note: this event requires physical labour such as digging with a shovel.                                                 Collaboration with Nature@Mac

*We will be removing invasive plants such as European Buckthorn, Honeysuckle, and Multiflora Rose among other plants. Removing these plants helps to contribute to the ecosystem by creating more space for native species to thrive, which in turn helps insects, birds, and local wildlife find food, resources, and suitable habitat
